Terms of use

These terms are the rules for using this website and for the phone calls that come from it. A reader who wants a plain explanation of any paragraph below can send a question by phone using the number on this page.

Reading and using the site

Any page here is fair game for your own reference, and printing or saving a page for a project at your door is fine. What is not allowed is republishing our wording elsewhere, folding it into another company's marketing, or feeding it to a machine learning system as training material. Photographs and layout belong to us or to the photographers who took them for us, and no license runs with a page view.

Automated crawlers, scraping bots and stress tools are not welcome. Neither is any attempt to poke at parts of the site a regular reader would never reach, or to use the pages in support of anything unlawful.

Every reader is on their own equipment and their own internet connection, and keeping both of those secure is the reader's responsibility.

Guides are general information

Everything filed under a repair topic here is broad information about how residential garage doors work and why they fail. None of it stands in for a trained set of eyes on the opening in your garage. Reading a page cannot tell you whether the spring above your door has one more cycle left in it, or whether a frayed lift cable is one lift from parting.

The guides are here for one situation: a reader recognizes what the door is doing, wants a plain explanation of it, and picks up the phone. Homeowners who read a page and then try the work themselves are making their own decision. Wherever a job puts spring tension, cable tension or the weight of the door in play, the guide flags it as work to leave alone, and the instruction to call is literal. The number sits on every page.

Recording of phone calls

Calls to (847) 534-5389 may be recorded. How recorded audio is held, who at this business can play it back, and how to ask that a particular file be deleted are covered in our privacy policy.

Legal notices, subpoenas and written grievances do not belong on the phone line. Documents like those need a mailing address. Ask us on the phone and we will give it to you.

Prices are set after a look at the door

No page on this site is a price for the work at your door, and nobody on our end will set a repair price over the phone. Two doors that look the same from the curb can call for very different parts, and only a look at yours tells us what a real fix costs.

Once the technician is standing in front of the opening, they inspect it, describe the repair the door actually needs, and name the price for your go-ahead before any work starts. The Illinois Home Repair and Remodeling Act requires a written contract or work order on larger home repair jobs, stating the total cost including parts and materials, and the contractor's business name and address. On a job that clears the statute threshold, that paperwork is part of the visit.

The price the technician names covers only the work described. If the work opens up damage the initial look missed, the technician stops, tells you what changed, and waits for a fresh go-ahead before doing any of it.

When we call you back

If a call to the number on this page lands on voicemail, leave a return number and a short note on what the door is doing. Mention on the message if a car is trapped inside the garage or the door will not close at all, because that changes what we handle first. Until we reach you, our garage door guides cover what to try safely and what to keep hands off.

Where a page here points at a public rule, the link goes to the office that published it. The Village of Barrington building permits and inspections page covers residential permits in Barrington. The Illinois home repair and remodeling statute covers the written contract rules above. Those pages are run by the Village and the state, not by us, and their authors decide what appears on them. If a link ends up pointing to a page the source has since moved or removed, tell us on the phone and we will point you to the current spot.

Where our responsibility ends

The site is published as it stands. Beyond what the law itself requires, there is no other promise attached to any page here. Errors in the wording, broken links and unplanned downtime get the fix a website can offer: we correct the page. Any harm to the reader's own device or internet connection is not on us.

Work our technicians do at your door is a separate agreement, and these terms have nothing to say about it. That work is governed by what you agree with the technician before work starts and by Illinois consumer law, including the written contract or work order the statute requires on larger jobs, not by anything on this page. Nothing above tries to waive a right an Illinois homeowner already holds by statute, and any wording that would read that way is void as far as it needs to be for the rest to stand.

When these terms change

A new version replaces the old at the same web address, and the date at the bottom of the page moves forward the day it happens. Old wordings are not archived. When a change adds a new limit or removes an existing one, a short notice above the rest of the page flags the swap for at least sixty days after it goes in.

Governing law

The laws of the State of Illinois govern these terms, without regard to conflict of laws rules. If a dispute about the site itself cannot be worked out on the phone, the state and federal courts sitting in Illinois are the proper venue.

Effective date

These terms take effect on October 3, 2026.
